Thomas Mitchell Jobe

Thomas Mitchell “Mitch” Jobe, a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, passed away on June 17, 2024 at the age of 68. Born on August 3, 1955, in Tyler, Texas, Mitch was the cherished first born son of Tom and Billye Jobe. His life was marked by a deep commitment to his family and friends. Growing up in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Mitch developed a love for golf, fishing, and hunting, pursuits that would bring him joy throughout his life. After graduating from Ardmore High School, he attended Oklahoma State University where he joined the Epsilon Epsilon chapter of the Sigma Nu men’s fraternity. He graduated with his Masters in Accounting, earned the silver medal in the year he took the CPA exam, and met the love of his life, Julie. Mitch's professional career was distinguished and impactful. He worked for Arthur Anderson as a CPA in the tax department, where his dedication and expertise earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike, apparent from his quick promotions to partner in the Tulsa office. Beyond his professional achievements, Mitch was known for his integrity, kindness, and unwavering support for those around him. He retired at the age of 44, choosing to put his family first, in lieu of a transfer to Dallas for work. In 1978, Mitch married his soulmate Julia “Julie” Sturdevant, and together they built a life filled with love in Tulsa, OK. As a devoted father and grandfather, Mitch took immense pride in his children, Jill and Jackie, and his grandchildren, Jocelyn (9) and James (7). His family brought him joy, as he loved cheering on his daughters at tennis matches and his grandchildren at basketball and soccer games. Right behind his love for his family was the love for his Alma Mater’s sports teams. His girls have fond memories of OSU football and basketball games where they dressed up as pom-pom cheerleaders. He loved his teams with so much passion that the Daily O’Collegian even ran an article about “Big Red” and his fervent cheering and jeering to lead his teams to victory. Mitch is survived by his loving daughters, Jill Vivion and Jackie McCart along with their husbands Jody and Eric (respectively); his grandchildren, Jocelyn and James Vivion; his siblings, Mike and Mark, and Mike’s wife Ann; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Billye Jobe, and wife Julie. A celebration of Mitch's life will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 10:00 am at Asbury United Methodist Church Columbarium. Pastor Tom Harrison and Reverend Rodney Steele will officiate. His ashes will be interred at the Asbury Columbarium with his beloved Julie.
