Patricia Yvonne Lyle

Patricia Davis Lyle passed away peacefully in the company of her beloved children on June 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Hurshel Lyle, her younger brother Robert Earl Davis, and her parents Finis Earl and Lucy Mae Davis. Pat was born on December 7, 1937 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She and her brother Bob were raised in Harlingen, Texas where she made the first of many friendships that would last throughout her life. In 1955, she graduated from Harlingen High School, where she was a cheerleader for the Cardinals. In 1956, she was crowned Cotton Queen of Harlingen’s Algodon Club. Pat attended Trinity University in San Antonio and the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. In 1958, she married Bryan Bell Marsh, Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama. On their first wedding anniversary, they welcomed their first son Bryan. In 1960, the family moved to Richardson, Texas, where Pat would spend most of her life. She was blessed with her daughter Betsy in 1961 and her youngest son Bob in 1963. While she stayed at home to raise her family, Pat was involved in her children’s schools as well as the Richardson Service League and the Garden Club. Her children fondly remember her cooking, especially her fried chicken, and morning school drop offs in her nightgown. Pat and Bryan traveled to Europe and the Middle East for Bryan’s job and throughout the US on family vacations, most often to Florida’s Emerald Coast. In 1979, she married Hurshel, the love of her life, and welcomed stepdaughter Laura into their blended family. Pat and Hurshel spent many of their first years on the road, traveling to Europe with their children and across America as a part of their insurance and employee benefits business. In National Forest land outside Durango, Colorado, they would find their happy place, where they bought a small log cabin. Pat’s love for spending time in nature inspired a move to Holly Lake Ranch in the Piney Woods of East Texas, where she and Hurshel lived surrounded by a lush garden with hundreds of azaleas, dogwoods, redbuds, and wisteria. They shared this little piece of paradise with their dog Angel, along with a pack of cats, deer, and other critters, and their grandchildren loved to spend their summer vacation time at “Granny camp.” Pat spent her last years in the Dallas area, close to family and friends. A lifelong, devoted follower of Christ, she looked forward to her ultimate reunion with her beloved husband and brother in heaven. She is survived by her son Bryan Bell Marsh III, daughter Elizabeth Marsh Ybarra (Betsy), son Robert Earl Marsh (Bob), stepdaughter Laura Lyle Whiting, daughter-in-law Mauri Marsh, son-in-law Manuel Ybarra (Manny), daughter-in-law Lila Marsh, and son-in-law Simon Whiting. Her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Granpat,” include Will Marsh, Charlie Marsh, James Marsh, Amanda Cardenas, Sam Ybarra, Davis Marsh, Brett Marsh, George Whiting, Harry Whiting, Allison Whaley and Cole Whaley. Her great grandchildren include Colt and Brooks Cardenas, Jak and Stella Kleifgen, and Mila Johnston. She is also survived by her beloved niece Lacey Moler, nephew Brad Davis, their spouses Tyson and Heather, and their children Davis Moler, Anna Moler, Olivia Moler, Weston Davis, Heidi Davis, and Tinsley Davis. A memorial service in celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on July 18th at the main sanctuary of First United Methodist Church Richardson (503 N Central Expwy). Following the service, everyone is invited to gather at the home of Mauri and Bryan Marsh at 2611 Sherrill Park Drive in Richardson. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband Hurshel near their Colorado home at a later date. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to one of Pat’s favorite charities (and sources of comfort) The Upper Room. Pat turned to this organization on a regular basis to ask for prayers for people in need.
