MONTYE Phyllis (Wyatt/Imbordino/Morris) WHITELOCK Having departed on July 9th, to join her Lord and Family in Heaven, after living 85+ years (b6/1/39), MONTYE was loved and known by all for her unswerving devotion and passion to her four Fs. FAITH – FAMILY – FRIENDS – FIDELITY Her Christian FAITH started at birth in Memphis, Texas – to parents Neely Wyatt & Phyllis Howard, (mother remarried after father died in WWII.) Montye grew up on her Grandfather HOWARD’s ranch along with younger brothers JIMMY & VINCE. She became a horse riding cowgirl while she next graduated with honors from Tom S. Lubbock Senior High School, then married first husband (Phillip Morris), and gave birth to two sons-DEAN & ERIC. After a divorce she continued her education having high marks, majoring in English & History and receiving a “gold cord” BA degree at California State Polytechnic College San Luis Obispo. But her love of Texas called her home, where she soon found her “soulmate” and married Tom Whitelock on November 23, 1982 in the great hall of Saint Matthias Church by Fr Dwight Duncan. Montye & Tom served in many capacities at the church over thirty years, including altar guild, Sunday school teachers, ushering and Lenten dinners. Their FAMILY became a comforting influence as she joined Tom in his professional life as they both worked side by side when he became a country club General Manager in several States and having the need to travel. Our circle of FRIENDS expanded during these times and still our inlaws and church family stayed close to our heart, it was while in New Mexico that Montye was struck with the first of her many trials – she lost the vision in her right eye from a unique virus and we returned to Dallas for her surgery to remove it and painful procedures to save the left. No stronger woman than SHE, and GOD blessed us that the treatments were successful in the remainder of 42 years of marriage and FIDELTY. All can be said at this moment, is that she has endured pain and suffering from too many causes, and yet always had a kind word and smile on her face for all she met and loved – including her devotion to me. Montye is survived by husband TOM, families of brothers JIM WYATT of VA. & VINCE IMBORDINO of AZ. As well as sons Dean Morris & Eric Morris, grandchildren, cousins and nieces. The celebration of her life (Requiem Mass) services will be at 10:30 AM on August 17th at St. Matthias’ Church located at 3460 Forest Lane, Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting you honor her life with a memory donation to St. Matthias Gift and Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
