Margie Ellen Johnson

Margie Ellen Johnson (nee Ragland) died on May 20, 2024. Margie is the oldest of seven children born to Frank Adam Ragland and Martha Lillie Montgomery. She was born on August 2, 1931, in Sundance, Wyoming. She is survived by her youngest sister Dora Hale of Mineral, Washington. Her siblings are Ardith Barthol, Della Bradley, Ottis, Millard and Robert. By the time Margie was 14 years old the family had lived in 3 states and 14 different places until they purchased land in Sandpoint, Idaho. While living in Sandpoint, she met and married her first husband Alvin Klafke. Following her marriage, they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They had six children Millard, Linda Crump, Jesse, Wesley, Wade and Raelynn. One of Margie’s greatest accomplishments was being able to go to school to become a nurse. She loved being a nurse and helping others. Margie was a care-giver all of her life. In June of 1978, after being divorced for 4 years, she married Robert Arthur Johnson in the Salt Lake City Temple. Bob had two children from a previous marriage, James and Laura. After living in the Chicago area for one year, they moved to Albuquerque, then Lovington New Mexico. Once in Lovington, Margie returned to school to become a Registered Nurse. She loved attending college and all her classes, especially any science classes. They returned to Albuquerque until Bob and Margie went on a senior mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in Wyoming on an Indian reservation in 1989. They loved the people they served with. After their mission, they moved to Saint George Utah. This was home. Margie loved the red rocks of southern Utah. Only three years after moving there Bob died in 1992. Shortly thereafter, Margie served a full-time mission as a single sister, first going to Germany and then Russia where she watched after the missionaries using her nursing knowledge to keep them healthy. Margie finished her career as a home health nurse, working in Texas, Nevada and Arizona. Following her retirement 2005, she moved back to Texas to be close to her daughters and her long time friend, Joy Rife. We express gratitude to the members of the Plano 7th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who have loved and cared for her these past 18 years. We are grateful to the residents and staff of San Remo who have made the last 10 months of her life purposeful.
