David James Specht

David James Specht, aged 74, peacefully passed surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, July 25th at his home in Oak Point, Texas after a courageous 3 year long, multi-round battle with cancer. David was born on February 10th 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from North Hills High School and went on to earn a degree at the University of Pittsburg. David started a successful career in New York and later relocated to Texas where he found the love of his life, Becki. He was a 50 year member of the Perry-Ionic Lodge of Freemasons in Pittsburgh and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. David is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Becki, and their 5 children, Jennifer Danzi (Jerome), David Specht, Jr (Brigitte), Julie Specht (Brendan), Isaac Walker (Teryn) and Bailee Beathard (Chad). David is also survived by 10 grandchildren which he loved and adored (Paul, Aidan, Conor, Joseph, Natalie, Jillian, Cavan, Colin, Sophia and Liam). He is survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Don Carpenter, sisters-in-law Vicki Buckley (Steve), Sandra Kleman (Dwayne), Tammy Starinchak, and brother-in- law, Donny Carpenter (Melissa) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. David loved to fix things, whether it was a car, a pool or a drink. Dubbed “Mr. Fixit” and “MacGyver” by his friends and family, he was most happy tinkering in his shop with a roll of electrical tape and a tool belt. His project list was never-ending and he loved his work both at home and in the office. He and Becki started a successful business together; they loved taking trips to San Francisco, Fredericksburg, New York City and to visit their family and friends. He loved Becki with his entire heart and she loved him just as much in return. He shared a birthday with his granddaughter Natalie, a special date for his entire family. He was a loving husband; father, brother, uncle and friend. We will miss his stories, his advice, and his never-ending love. Always in our hearts, he will be truly missed. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on October 23, 2021, from 3pm to 6pm, at the Specht residence in Oak Point, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or Big Brothers Big Sisters Lonestar.
